In 2006, they entered a London studio and began a marathon session of songwriting and demo recording. Aiming to recreate the rawer, more primal sound of Cave's acclaimed post-punk project \"\u003cstrong\u003eThe Birthday Party\u003c\/strong\u003e,\" Grinderman's lyrics and music were a significant departure from Nick Cave's earlier work with The Bad Seeds.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe following April, they recorded the best of these new songs and, with the help of their longtime friend and producer \u003cstrong\u003eNick Launay\u003c\/strong\u003e, recorded an album. Their eleven-song debut album, \u003cem\u003eGrinderman\u003c\/em\u003e, released on March 5, 2007, received critical acclaim and included the singles \"\u003cem\u003eNo Pussy Blues\u003c\/em\u003e\" and \"\u003cem\u003eGet It On\u003c\/em\u003e.\" The quartet reunited in 2009 to record \u003cem\u003eGrinderman 2\u003c\/em\u003e, released in 2010.
