Created in their home over the course of two years, this album speaks to the journey of Daria and Jaelynn’s romantic relationship as well as their evolving combined creative impulses.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOn \u003cem\u003eDyke Den\u003c\/em\u003e, Darlynn display their influences—from \u003cstrong\u003eJanet Jackson\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eSly \u0026amp; the Family Stone\u003c\/strong\u003e, to \u003cstrong\u003eFrankie Knuckles\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eLarry Levan\u003c\/strong\u003e—in a sophisticated, fully realized, and overtly queered fashion. Joyous dancefloor moments are abundant. Tracks like \u003cem\u003e“Make Yr Move”\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003e“Like A Summer”\u003c\/em\u003e celebrate deep house vibes a la Alleviated Records, while sultry R\u0026amp;B moves are flexed on \u003cem\u003e“Girl 2 Girl”\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003e“Alright With Me.”\u003c\/em\u003e But longing and yearning exist within this joyous arc, and the question arises: “How can I get you to love me?” More than an idealistic narrative of girl meets they\/them, \u003cem\u003eDyke Den\u003c\/em\u003e paints a portrait of love in all its multifaceted moments: the bids for commitment, the stagnation of years going by, the wormholes of desire. Yet the album maintains its thesis of hope. The sweet, layered harmonies of closing song \u003cem\u003e“Love Letter”\u003c\/em\u003e display the power of life partnership: “My whole life is a love letter to you.” \u003cem\u003eDyke Den\u003c\/em\u003e features artwork by \u003cstrong\u003eHailee Va\u003c\/strong\u003e in a sleeve designed by \u003cstrong\u003eEloise Shir-Juen Leigh\u003c\/strong\u003e.
