Indeed, Dead Can Dance’s first official live album, 1994’s \u003cem\u003eToward The Within\u003c\/em\u003e, captures just this with three Brendan solo tracks helping to set the scene for what came next.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eRecorded at Brendan's \u003cstrong\u003eQuivvy Church\u003c\/strong\u003e studio in County Cavan in Ireland and backed by the band of \u003cstrong\u003eLiam Bradley\u003c\/strong\u003e (drums), \u003cstrong\u003eGlen Garrett\u003c\/strong\u003e (bass guitar) and \u003cstrong\u003eMartin Quinn\u003c\/strong\u003e (pedal steel), Brendan performs the guitar, a 12-string guitar, mandolin and keys to achieve a rich, gothic sound while the album’s incredible production elevates his vocals to Scott Walker and Tim Buckley levels of delivery; two clear influences, the latter’s ‘\u003cem\u003eI Must Have Been Blind Here\u003c\/em\u003e’ is thoughtfully covered here.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eA record that has been out of print on vinyl since its release in 1999, people have been asking for it to be repressed for long enough. Having been mastered at \u003cstrong\u003eAbbey Road\u003c\/strong\u003e, fans will be delighted to hear that not only is \u003cem\u003eEye of the Hunter\u003c\/em\u003e finally being reissued but that it’s also been expanded to include \u003cem\u003eLive at the I.C.A.\u003c\/em\u003e The single ‘\u003cem\u003eHappy Time\u003c\/em\u003e (\u003cem\u003eLive at the I.C.A.\u003c\/em\u003e)’, a \u003cstrong\u003eTim Buckley\u003c\/strong\u003e cover, is released today (Sep 11th) from the latter. A true collectible, this extra album has previously only been available on a rare as hen’s teeth promotional cassette, recorded during 4AD’s infamous 13 Year Itch residency at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts in 1993. \u003cstrong\u003eChris Bigg\u003c\/strong\u003e’s fantastic art remains front and centre, upgraded to a gatefold sleeve for the LP with the coloured vinyl matching the album’s palette (\u003cem\u003eEye of the Hunter\u003c\/em\u003e on transparent teal and Live at the I.C.A. on seafoam green).
