Some called it “the missing link between The Cure and Lindstrøm,” Pitchfork heard Durutti Column and Can, as the duo’s story became swept up in a loosely developing scene — adjacent first to the label Service (Jens Lekman, The Whitest Boy Alive) and later Sincerely Yours (The Tough Alliance, jj) — and a precursor to the 2010s boom at the axis of electronic and psychedelic music guided by indie greats like Caribou, Four Tet, and Darkside. Featuring six free-flowed tracks that glide between hypnotic instrumental terrain and anthemic pop architecture, West Coast succeeded in its premise, a trance-inducing, deja vu-like destination instantly identifiable and endlessly replayable. By late 2007, following its expanded CD repackaging as Yearbook 1, the songs were staples of year-end lists, including best album write-ups by Pitchfork, FACT Magazine, and Rough Trade. During this period, Lissvik co-founded the Service label, creating a platform to release music, produce T-shirts, and host events. Service organized large parties, and the art school served as both a club venue and office, in a style reminiscent of Factory Records and Haçienda. Hägg remembers, "All these recordings were just piled up and we dusted them off and started to deconstruct and assemble them in a more drawn-out fashion." In 2005, they left Service, flirted with breaking up, and then revisited material and wrote two new songs at Hägg's Ferry Terminal Studio and Lissvik's N.47 studio, which he jokingly dubbed the "Beach Ball of Death sessions" due to the slow processing strain put on his Power Mac G4. First released in 2003, 13 years after leaving the legendary electronic group, the re-release arrives at a moment when its central theme, the transformation of culture through electronic media, feels more relevant than ever. When Bartos departed Kraftwerk in 1990, he left behind a catalogue that had redefined electronic music: “The Model”, “The Robots”, “Numbers”, “Pocket Calculator” and many more bear his imprint as co-writer and melody-maker. 2021 Kraftwerk’s classic line-up was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for their innovative work – the first German band ever to be honored. With the sharp witted electro-pop of Communication, the Kraftwerk legend extended that legacy, turning his focus toward a rapidly evolving media landscape at the turn of the millennium. At the time, the album’s exploration of celebrity culture, digital imagery, and the early internet felt like a glimpse into the future. Today, it reads as sharp cultural analysis of a reality that has since become ordinary. Two decades later, this reissue allows Communication to be reconsidered on its own terms. The questions Bartos posed, about image saturation, reality fragmentation, and identity commodification, resonate more strongly in the age of smartphones, social media, and streaming platforms than they did in the early 2000s.

Karl Bartos: "We are living in an age of huge behavioural manipulation. Cybernetics, artificial intelligence – this is a major challenge for humanity.“ Bartos’s role in shaping Kraftwerk’s defining sound is undisputed, yet Communication also asserts his independent artistic voice: one that critiques media while celebrating the joy of electronic sound. Its re-release is less a nostalgic act than a reminder that Bartos’s work continues to speak directly to the cultural present. With this reissue on Bureau B, Communication endures as both a document of its time and a timeless statement on media, culture, and music.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0588/3455/0945/files/Karl_Bartos_-_Communication_-_2025_Reissue.jpg?v=1760527447
the-black-dog-loud-ambient
THE BLACK DOG - Loud Ambient

LP - Standard Limited Edition Red Vinyl.

"Making this album was an absolute joy. For over 25 years, the dystopian Detroit synth-punk institution founded by Nicola Kuperus and Adam Lee Miller has embodied steadfast frustration, distrust, and apprehension. One might expect the edges to soften with time, but ADULT. is not interested in the comforts of legacy. The duo's music has never sounded as visceral, urgent, and downright angry as it does on the culminating, uncompromising 'Kissing Luck Goodbye', their scorched-earth 10th LP and fourth with Dais Records. Built with upgraded gear and a whole new library of sounds, the material is crushingly dynamic, louder yet clearer, with Kuperus' commanding delivery given greater prominence in the mix, outlining an arsenal of vivid, caustic calls, chants, and musings. Laughter, whether in the lyrics or as a possessed presence, serves as a leitmotif that speaks to the menacing absurdity of modern times. "THE CHAOS IS WHAT THEY WANT," she sings on "R U 4 $ALE," doubling as a declaration of intent: to meet a burning world of greed and disarray with defiant, masterfully assembled chaos. "You have two choices in this hellscape we're living in right now, which is either fight or be depressed," says Miller. "Either one is okay. But, you know, the choice was simple."

ADULT. is known for high-stakes catharsis on stage, and recently deployed their back catalog of bass guitar songs from the 2000s, retracing the prescient Anxiety Always-era partially out of necessity given the temperature of today's political and technological dread. The response was instant and palpable: "We were in Paris, and the kids were stage diving. And I was like, this is rad. This is kind of the energy I want to get back into," Kuperus says. The epiphany coincided with a series of setbacks—Kuperus' bouts with chronic vertigo, the loss of their close friend and collaborator Douglas McCarthy of Nitzer Ebb, whom the album is dedicated to—all made profoundly worse under the looming regime. "We were stuck in the mud for quite a while after the election," Miller says.

"We had all the concepts, but we would just be like, 'What's the point?'" With failing studio air conditioners and dead car batteries (their sacred space for listening back to recordings), they often joked that the album might be cursed. Kuperus adds, "We're just like everything's breaking. We're breaking. We're broken." The sentiment didn’t stick, however, as they found themselves ultimately too super-charged by fury to sit still. From watching Musk's disgusting n*zi salute to seeing their community struggle under the new regime to waiting months for a tariff-inflated replacement subwoofer, the vibe heading into 'Kissing Luck Goodbye' was four middle fingers pointed straight up.

Rather than retreat, they focused on the process, revisiting their setup, complete with their first new mics in 20 years. They obsessed over textures, amassing a massive sample library taken from old thrift-store albums, previously used and unused ADULT. ingredients and new field recordings, running myriad items, including the buzz of shop vacs, through various pedals. Pause 'Kissing Luck Goodbye' at any moment, and you're likely to count a dozen things happening at once in strange, dizzying, and dissonant harmony. Together with producer Nolan Gray, whose involvement resulted from a chance encounter (he happened to be the host of the short-term rental property where the two stayed—maybe there is still some luck, after all), the band pushed themselves harder than ever before to build a world with this record.

Songs took shape from unusual places: "No One Is Coming" got its tempo from a skipping record they captured through a cell phone during a bnb stay for Kuperus' 50th birthday. A bassline-driven industrial anthem that turns feedback into melody, the track attacks inaction in the face of fascism— "NO ONE IS COMING TO YOUR RESCUE" is as simple as that: the resistance will not be provided by someone else. "None of It's Fun" blitzes with breathless urgency, high-speed glissades, and pointed lines like "OH I AM TEARING MY GUTS OUT / LOOK AT ME...DO YOU THINK THAT THIS IS AMUSING?"

The closer, "Destroyers", was the last song they recorded and encompasses the techniques ADULT. has learned not just throughout the making of 'Kissing Luck Goodbye', but across their quarter-century as a pioneering collaborative project. A straightforward bassline and kick collide with pulsing mantras, then becomes completely saturated and cacophonous. Their younger selves might have let the song destroy itself, but here, they were able to steady the volume throughout the extremes, making way for a poignant, parting a cappella:

WE PAY THE PRICE FOR
THOSE IN POWER
EXPLOITING YOU
EXPLOITING ME
CONSUMING YOU
CONSUMING ME
SICK SICK SICK
SICKENING
IT IS US
THAT ARE DEVOURED
BY EVERYTHING
I WILL EAT YOUR HATE

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0588/3455/0945/files/ADULT__-_Kissing_Luck_Goodbye_-_CD_-_2026.jpg?v=1781213621
the-prodigy-firestarter
THE PRODIGY - Firestarter

12'' EP - Limited 30th Anniversary Edition Black Vinyl. Formed in 2018, their sound fuses dirty guitars, disco-driven beats, sizzling synths, and explosive bass riffs that collide into irresistibly catchy hooks — the kind that demand the dancefloor. Founders of CroCroLand Festival — a celebration of Croydon’s place as the birthplace of UK punk and gender equality — BUGEYE continue to embody the spirit of rebellion, reinvention, and raw energy in everything they do. They joined the INH Records roster in 2024 to release new album The Shape Of Things in May.

The Shape Of Things follows last year's first single ‘This Ain’t A Love Song' and 2023’s singles ‘Dancing Out In The Dark’, 2022’s ‘Signs & Exits’ and ‘Summer In The City’, with the band’s 2020 debut album READY STEADY BANG gaining critical acclaim during the pandemic.

Front women and BUGEYE songwriter, Angela Martin formed the band with school friend and bass player Paula Snow and recently joined forces with Kat Pihl, Lex Giggs. With lyrics touching on subjects from the mundanity of modern city life, to global issues such as racism and climate change, tunes come wrapped in a riotous optimism that demands you to dance. While BUGEYE have one foot in pop's past - they are stalwartly forward thinking and future positive, a vibrant blend of 70s dance floor channeled via noughties optimism with shards of post punk energy.

BUGEYE’s 2020 debut album READY STEADY BANG was included on Louder Than War Top 50 Albums of The Year, and features in a long list of indie publications with rave reviews.
